About the role
Phyto Nex AI has two very different users who never meet. An AP specialist works through a queue of 180 flagged receipts on a Tuesday afternoon and needs to approve, edit or dismiss each one in seconds. A regional sales director receives one message in Slack about a $46.80 bar tab while walking into a client meeting. Both experiences have to feel fair, fast and obvious.
You will own the end-to-end design of the review workbench, the policy rule builder and the pushback agent conversation flows. That means dense data tables, keyboard-first workflows and careful copy as much as it means visual polish. We care about craft, and we care more about whether a controller can explain a flag to her CFO using only what is on the screen.
You will work as the only product designer on a team of 14 engineers, with Nandini as your manager and a close partner in Priya, who wrote our first policy rules from her own audit checklists. That means real ownership and real ambiguity. Some weeks you will redesign how a controller configures per diems for 40 cities; other weeks you will rewrite three sentences in a Slack message because a customer told us it sounded accusatory. We ship weekly, we test with customers before we build, and design reviews are short and written.
What you will do
- Own design for the AP review workbench, from queue triage to bulk approvals and audit trail views.
- Design Slack, Teams and email message flows with the policy team, including tone, structure and one-click employee responses.
- Run weekly sessions with AP managers and controllers at customer companies and turn findings into shipped changes.
- Maintain and extend our design system in Figma and code, partnering closely with frontend engineers.
- Prototype in code when motion, density or keyboard behavior matter more than static frames.
- Measure outcomes: time to resolve a flag, employee self-correction rate and support tickets per 1,000 flags.
What you bring
- 5+ years designing B2B SaaS products, ideally data-dense workflow tools used daily by operations teams.
- A portfolio that shows research, iteration and shipped outcomes, not only final screens.
- Strong interaction design for tables, filters, bulk actions and keyboard navigation.
- Excellent writing. You treat microcopy as part of the design.
- Comfortable working across time zones with US customers for research calls.
Nice to have
- Experience designing conversational interfaces inside Slack or Microsoft Teams.
- Familiarity with finance or accounting workflows.
- Basic React and Tailwind skills for coded prototypes.
